It's a new year and a new project featuring my favorite Showa Idol, Momoe Yamaguchi (as if my profile picture didn't give it away 🤭), English subtitles for Akai Shougeki! As I hinted in my previous release post for Akai Shisen, I wanted to tackle another full-fledged Akai entry, and I decided to go with this one.

This is the third "Akai" project I've worked on, and the fourth in the series overall. With 29 episodes, it's the longest I've subbed of these to date, and my biggest fansub project behind Abunai Deka. Notably, it's also the first in the series where Momoe Yamaguchi takes the lead role after Ken Utsui stepped down following his starring roles in the previous three "Akai" installments. Although he still has a role in this one. Moreover, the series features episodes directed by Japanese cinema giants Yasuzo Masumura and Yasuo Furuhata.

As a reminder, the "Akai" series is an anthology, each story stands on its own, so no need to watch any of the others to understand this one. If you've been drawn to the intense melodrama and plot twists of the Daiei dramas I've subbed before, you're in for another treat with this series.
