As has become a habit, I'm here to bring you another classic Daiei TV drama, fully subbed! This one's quite iconic, "Stewardess Monogatari." This series was a collaboration between Daiei TV and Japan Airlines (JAL), both of which were prominently featured in the previous Daiei dramas such as the Akai series with scenes set in JAL airports and airplanes.
Originally a novel, "Stewardess Monogatari" being adapted for television by Daiei, brought along its unique quirks to the screen. Expect melodrama, exaggerated dialogue, and shocking plot twists, with the story diverging significantly from the original work. Yasuzo Masumura, known for this distinctive style, directed and wrote the majority of the episodes, so you can expect his mark on the series.
The show's theme song is a Japanese cover of Irene Cara's classic "What a Feeling," performed by Miki Asakura, and it's still quite a banger! Beyond that, you can expect some familiar faces from other Daiei dramas in this one. Thanks to JPTVclub for the source of the RAWs. As with all these projects, this was subbed by ear, so please excuse any errors whenever the audio was hard to make out, or when characters spoke in dialects, or in episode 13, which dealt with mnemonics that do not translate directly. Enjoy all 22 episodes!
